Meet Kim Kimble

Kim Kimble has been in the game across two generations, inspiring Black stylists and design artists with her A-List celebrity clientele and the works’ she’s masterfully crafted for them.

With her career taking off with the large appeal of Halle Berry’s and Natalie Deselle’s iconic B.A.P.S.(1997) styles, Kimble has built a diverse portfolio and successful brand around innovative hairstyles and exemplary looks that encompass Black culture. Her resume includes massive names like Queen B herself- Beyonce; Shakira, Brandy, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Rowland, and Zendaya

Kimble has always worked towards presenting refreshed takes on Black people and Black culture, recognizing the importance of self-acceptance and embracing one's roots. Her work has even extended to Black character representation in the animation world.

In 2021, the collaborative initiative My HAIRstory! in partnership with Cartoon Network showcased how accurate representation on-screen directly impacts Black children’s perception of self and connection with Black culture. Exploring shows like Craig of the Creek(2017-Present) Kimble gave input on protective hairstyles, proper wash day techniques, and other Black hair care routines, even referencing characters from the show. Kimble’s hosting the three-part video series is exemplary of her passion for hair styling and care in addition to her love of boldly embracing Blackness in all facets!

Black hair has been more widely discussed in recent years as more and more Black women and girls are embracing their natural hair. The cosmetic industry hasn’t quite caught onto the wave yet, as hairstylists and makeup artists are still ill-equipped when it comes to doing justice to Black hair and complexions. Kimble has challenged the industry by not only highlighting the beauty of melanin but has continually elevated her ideas and her craft.

One of Kimble’s more recent works includes working as the hair department lead on Season 2 of HBO’s Euphoria(2019- Present).

Kimble’s work has shined more and more in her 25+ year career! It’s exciting to follow Kimble’s influence across different rap and hip hop artists, as well as her touch in Black cinema(comedies, and dramas alike).
